"An Optimal Nonlinear PD Control Design Subject to Constraints and its Application to Spacecraft Attitude Manoeuvres"

Abstract

This talk will present some of our recent results on optimal nonlinear control design for spacecraft attitude manoeuvres. It focuses on the following issues.

  1. how to achieve good transient and steady-state response of a system,
  2. how to transform an optimal control problem to an optimal parameter selection problem, and
  3. how to deal with constraints through constraint transcription method.

Chuanjiang Li received the M.S. degree and Ph.D. degree in control science and engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), China, in 2003 and 2006, respectively. He works in the school of astronautics in HIT since 2006, and now, as a vice dean in the department of control science and engineering, he is also an associate Professor. He was a visiting scholar at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia, from 2011 to 2012, supported by the China Scholarship Council. His main research interests include optimization and optimal control, nonlinear control theory, and their applications in aerospace engineering.
